Healthcare Workplace Consulting

Modern healthcare is facing a cataclysmic workplace crisis. Recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce requires crafting a workplace where healthcare team members' lived experiences and professional expertise are valued, respected, and leveraged to optimize patient care delivery. I help health healthcare organizations design workplaces where team members thrive so they can continue doing the important work of patient care with efficiency, empathy, and optimism.

For Healthcare Organizations

High functioning inter-professional care teams are at the core of modern healthcare delivery. However, professional and sociocultural biases, inefficient workflows, and user-unfriendly infrastructure can get in the way of an organization culture that promotes the safety and wellbeing of patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members alike. I provide education and training on justice, inclusion, and belonging that empowers multidisciplinary healthcare teams to harness their differences for better experiential and patient-level outcomes. I work with inter-professional care teams to redefine teamwork and workflows to optimize efficiency and workplace satisfaction.  I help health system leadership provide appropriate guidance for design teams when new capital infrastructure investments are planned.

For Healthcare Design Teams

Design teams often face multiple complex streams of information when creating a new healthcare space. With increasingly limited time and budget for extensive user-groups, its often challenging to hone in on quality, safety, and user experience, especially when competing with the need to synthesize and translate volume data, facilities condition assessments, ever-changing FGI guidelines, sustainability goals, and numerous other factors that go into the design of hospital construction, renovation, or expansion projects. I work with design teams to simplify the process obtaining and translating end-user input during pre-design. As design progresses, I provide quality, safety, and experiential peer-review so that change requests will be limited and speed to market will be optimized.

For Healthcare Transition Services Teams

When preparing healthcare teams to occupy new or renovated spaces, there are numerous logistics to be addressed from building activation to day of move management. Key among them are clinical preparedness to provide safe, effective, and high quality care on day 1. In the face of new layouts, technologic innovations not present in existing spaces, and understandable stress about the move, clinical operational readiness can be at risk. With my clinical expertise across the acute care platform, design experience, and change management skills, I work with clinical teams starting from blueprints to occupancy to craft operational readiness plans and clinical workflows based on the realities of care delivery in the modern era to ensure optimal outcomes for the new environment.
